Compassion and Strength

Last weekend was the Yoni Pichu workshop, and I felt that my life mission, my friendship (with Akana, fellow yoga teacher and Ayurvedic therapist) and everyone’s deep experience created a deep nourishing and healing time.

Yoni Pichu is an Ayurvedic practice of infusing a cotton ball tampon with warm oil and inserting it into the vaginal canal. It is really beneficial for so many gynaecological issues as well as being helpful for insomnia, constipation, anxiety, and dryness. We learned the Ayurvedic theory behind this treatment, then made the tampons and used them to experience it. Then we spent time in a deeply relaxing restorative yoga (yup some people fell asleep!)

There were women from all walks of life, and different age group, but the space felt full of understanding and compassion for one another. Many people commented on how the warmth spread throughout the body as they left the tampon in during yoga. One participant shared about how she felt like she was really able to connect with her deeper inner self, and that it’s okay to prioritize herself.

Yoni Pichu is not just a technique. I really believe it’s an energetic practice that heals and releases deep compassion and strength, by caring for and listening to our womb and vagina, parts of our body that are often not paid attention to. It’s like lighting a candle in a dark cave, which is the womb, and nourishing from deep within.

Akana and I are so thankful for everyone who participated, and resolved to keep sharing this practice more. We hope to see you next time!
