新年のヴィジョンリトリート/New Year Envisioning Retreat
恒例の、木曜クラス年末のありがとう食事会/ End of the year dinner after Thursday class
Why do people join a yoga class? Convenience? Cost? Class size? Different types of programs that fit their needs?
Obviously these are all important things to consider. But one of the things that people who join Migiwa Yoga Space most frequently mentions is community. And that is one thing I love about teaching yoga is the community of people that gather. Doing yoga can be a private thing, just doing it on the mat in your living room or on youtube. There is something really encouraging, though, about having the same time and space to share as we do yoga together.
I make sure that we all introduce ourselves if there is a new person, so we know that we’re in a safe, friendly space. And when I say, “The light in me honors the light in you, Namaste,” I really mean it, that there is a sense of witnessing each person’s presence in that room. Sometimes, I’ve shared about having a difficult time, and share about what I’m feeling so whatever someone is going through, they can know that it’s okay to be wherever they are at.
My love of community, and the joy I get from seeing people connect with each other, is probably why I love retreats so much. We get to spend more time together, and get to know each other, and from that place of togetherness and safe space, we can each go deeper into our yoga practice. By having the space to share, we can receive from each other’s wisdom.
I want to keep cultivating this sense of safety and belonging, to the best of my ability. After all, “Migiwa” which is my actual given first name, and which is part of the yoga business name, means “shoreline.” That is where water and land meet, cultivating diverse life between water and land.
